My Life in Words Ophelia Kee Speaks |
#indieauthors #writerslife #amwritingromance #RomanceReaders #paranormalromance So late yesterday evening, I met an author on Facebook. CJ Bower. She writes contemporary sports romance. We chatted for quite awhile, and she she gave me some serious stuff to think about and look into. I have never done a book signing. As most of you are aware, the field I work in outside of writing is not one in which paranormal romance would be looked upon favorably. (So, yes, Ophelia Kee is actually my pen name.) She suggested that I consider traveling and trying out a book signing or two. So I am looking into it. She also gave me a bit of practical advice about writing the book taglines. I will try it, and you guys let me know if I am doing better. I have known for awhile that I need to build a following of loyal readers, but this is not easy to do. Collecting emails when people are afraid of the spam is difficult too. You may not be aware, but mass email distribution is actually a paid form of advertising. Meaning that I, with my limited budget, will not ever be spamming my readers. At this point, it would be far more cost effective to simply write a few personalized emails a day. Or continue writing about my author walk and keep everyone in the loop that way. Maybe in the future as the business grows, I can expand that better. ![]() For now, if you are interested in finding out about my story style and helping me on my path in the dream, just visit my website OpheliaKee.com. Check out the novels, and when the popup opens subscribe and download your FREE copy of The Thread. It is the prologue to A Pack Forms, and it offers you the behind the scenes story on the events that led up to Luke finally making his move to meet Eli. He's a bit broken and so is she, but neither of them really know it. Her situation is actually more complicated, but so long as he is only stalking her from a distance, Luke doesn't realize that. When you finish the short read if you want to find out more, click the link and continue. No pressure. FREE with no commitment is good. Someone suggested that I begin a Facebook Group, I will look into that next. I have expanded the content available on the page considerably. I just figured out about uploading the videos there. So check out the Storyboard previews on Facebook later. Something I would really like to see improvement with is the Pinterest following and community. It is far better as a creative outlet and idea interest spark to me. That platform appeals to the creative mind more from my perspective. With Facebook and Twitter, advertising gets very costly. But with Pinterest, there is more organic traffic. People are less directly led and allowed to wander through their interests with more freedom. It is more difficult to gain followers there, but I think that might be a good thing. The people who follow there would be serious readers, not just random tagalongs. I love to hear from you, so drop me a line about your preferences so I have more to chew on. ![]() Filth and Death is live from Amazon. If you have not grabbed a copy, get it quick before the debut price ends. For my Kindle Unlimited subscribers this massive book if FREE! So read and share. If you read any book, please be kind and leave your review. Authors need them. Sincerest Thanks. Life is calling me. I have work to do yet again.
