My Life in Words Ophelia Kee Speaks |
#indieauthors #writerslife #amwritingromance #RomanceReaders #paranormalromance ![]() If you had told me 4 years ago when I began writing Draoithe that I would need to craft my own videos in order to market my books, I would have laughed. They are books. People read them. They are not movies. Only now, I see the value in the video. It is a taste, a scene to tease the mind. Audio is the same way. It is a brush of the words that changes the inner voice. There is art in that. Both of these are storytelling too. So I have embraced that. The Book Trailer for Filth and Death is now playing on YouTube and Pinterest. Since we managed that subject, I will remind you that the book is available on Pre-order from Amazon and recommend that you get your copy at the debut price before that chance is lost. (That was the most painless self promotion yet!) In other news about what is happening behind the scenes at Draoithe, Today I am working on the Storyboard Preview for Dragons Come. I will be posting it to YouTube, Instagram, and Pinterest as well with links back from Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr. I will update the web page here at OpheliaKee.com too. If I can, I will add it to Amazon and Goodreads. Amazon will only allow 8 videos on the author page, and Goodreads is a bit difficult to navigate for me. Sometimes Amazon will allow me to add video to the actual purchase page. So I will try that. ![]() FREE stuff. Yeah! the fun part. I like giving stuff away. It makes the panhandling seem less disgraceful. I know it's not the same thing as begging in the street, but still. The greatest compliment is when someone likes the story. The only thing is, a person must be convinced to begin reading it to know if they like it. So giving away samples of my work seems like a good idea to me. Today is your last day to get your free copy of Smoke of the Fire part 1. At midnight tonight the offer expires. I can't do another free promotion until next month. I do have to try to earn a living and pay the bills. FREE stuff is fun though. And it was Valentine's Day, right? I will keep adding stuff to the website and social media as well. For anyone who has not downloaded their FREE pdf copy of The Thread, it is always FREE from opheliakee.com. Just subscribe and get another freebie instantly. Sorry, I don't have a snippet of Lost King. (Author reserves the right to change the titles at will. Hypnotic is Lost King now.) I saw the scenes for a short read and wrote that instead. So I will give you a taste. Excerpt: How could she run out of gas? In the middle of the night? Really? Did that even happen to real people? Estelle had goosebumps. The whole scene felt like something out of the horror films she refused to watch. There she was sitting on the side of the road. Her second hand car was an older Mazda. It did not have a low fuel warning signal. Lenny’s blacked out Lincolns were all new luxury with bullet proof glass. They all had the bells and whistles. She had bought the Mazda for only a thousand dollars and was damn near flat out of money within six weeks of leaving his sorry ass. But it had been all she could afford. She had less than a hundred dollars to her name, and she had almost no hope of getting into Dallas in the morning for the job interview for the position she was in desperate need of. Not without a gas can and some help anyway. She would get over the embarrassment. She needed help to get to a job and a different life. If begging was her only choice... All right enough. I gotta get back to work, the laundry, and homemade cashew cream ice cream. Until the next time, don't forget to be kind and leave reviews if you read.
Be Careful! Happy reading, Ophelia Kee Welcome to Ophelia Kee Speaks. This is a blog chronicling my independent author walk. The journey into the dream has been a life-changing experience as I try to become a full-time writer and leave the professional world behind me. In my blog each day, you will find information on the ‘behind the scenes’ for writing contemporary adult fantasy fiction and paranormal romance stories set in the dream. I will speak on topics detailing with my writing, publishing, promotion, and marketing as well as social media dealing with my books, book trailers, book launches, book art, music, audio, and video, as well as shameless self-promotion. I am not an expert and am not claiming to be one. I am simply one writer offering a glimpse of my struggle to become a successful independent author. Thank you for considering my words.
