I finally got a copy of my first book as a 6x9 size real book. Holy crap it's big! I mean I know we like that line in a romance book, but this is about a book so try to get your mind out of the gutter for a minute and check out this book with me!

Draoithe: A Pack Forms

This is the front view. I know it looks a lot like the front view of the 8.5x11 book I have. I mean look at the cover. It has a Direwolf on it.
Do you know how hard it was to craft that image? I spent a long time on this cover. I fully intend to use it, a lot.
Yeah I know the branding is a bit odd, but let's face it, I write a lot of books and I need my stories to be immediately identifiably recognizable. With this branding, all of my books are obviously part of the dream.
But this is just the front view. Wait until you see the side view!
Check it out! Almost and inch thick at 480 pages. I am pleased. I know it's paranormal romance which is usually short books about 270 pages, but this is adult fantasy so the bigger the book, the longer and better the story. When I was a kid checking out books in the grocery store or Waldenbooks. I looked for the thickest books that I knew would take the longest to read so I could extend the entertainment factor. My parents would only buy me one book at a time so I always went for the biggest book I could find.

Now, that is no longer the case. With the e-books easily available, it isn't always so easy to know how big a book is. So we have to buy books or choose to read a story based on the cover and the blurb. (Which is what I should've been doing as a kid, but kids don't always measure things the way adults do. LOL)
As price always matters to adults (but not to a kid who had a one book limit), ebooks are usually cheaper with more bells and whistles added (such as images, links to inspiring music, and added lines of poetry or quotes. And don't forget the links to more books!) So my big thick, 8 hours of entertainment for the average reader, sized-book is only $3.99 as an e-book or FREE to read on Kindle Unlimited where as the list price for the 6x9 edition paperback is $17.64. That's still cheaper than a movie which only lasts about two hours.
In case it matters to anyone who writes, I charge $.99 for each 10,000 words in a story. So A Pack Forms is broken into 8 parts and would be about $8 if purchased individually. But I cut the price in half if  you wait and buy it all at once!
(Do I sell the short read paperbacks? No, not really, but as it lends credibility, I still craft them. I suppose if you thought you had to have them, they sell for $6.50 each. But I'd wait for the complete volume and buy it at way less cost!)
The book hangover will be just as good as the movie hangover, I swear it! Oh wait, I don't have a movie yet! Don't laugh, I can dream. I'm thinking anime style. What do y'all think? I just need to find an artist who works for free...

Shameless Self Promotion!

Draoithe: No Negotiations is Now Publishing! Part 4 is now available. (Only $.99 each or read for FREE with Kindle Unlimited!) The conclusion will publish next weekend! For all of you who wait until it's all posted before you read, the complete volume will be ready on Dec. 12, 2020. That is the last complete volume that I will be able to publish this year! So for everyone who reads, Thank you sincerely. I am most Thankful for my Readers! The list for books publishing next year is available at OpheliaKee.com!

Excerpt from Kings Wilde

Kings Wilde is what I've been working on over the Thanksgiving Weekend! I managed to add 5800+ words to this miniseries and if I am honest, that is what I intend to work on the rest of the weekend. While the scene flows in my mind I need to write it. In case you were wondering, No. Sadly I do not participate in NaNoWriMo. If I could, I might do well. I have written over 100K in one week before. (90% of Dread Allies was done in 5 days in July a few years ago.) It's my day job that stops me. I had the week off for Thanksgiving, but that was the only week off this month. I'm not sure if I could squeeze in enough writing to craft a book around the day job so I 'll just have to squeeze it in around everything else the way I always do. Maybe someday!
I gotta run! The thrift store book cases are calling to me. I only have a few books! (Laugh, y'all know that ain't true.) If y'all read, please be kind and leave your reviews! Indie authors will love you for it. I am forever thankful for my readers and their kind reviews.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Be Careful!
Happy Reading,

Welcome to Ophelia Kee Speaks. This is a blog chronicling my independent author walk. The journey into the dream has been a life-changing experience as I try to become a full-time writer and leave the professional world behind me. In my blog each day, you will find information on the ‘behind the scenes’ for writing contemporary adult fantasy fiction and paranormal romance stories set in the dream. I will speak on topics detailing with my writing, publishing, promotion, and marketing as well as social media dealing with my books, book trailers, book launches, book art, music, audio, and video, as well as shameless self-promotion. I am not an expert and am not claiming to be one. I am simply one writer offering a glimpse of my struggle to become a successful independent author. Thank you for considering my words.
