Devil's Advocate. Don't you sometimes just love that role? I do. Sometimes social media is great for that. People you don't know from wherever they are in the world on whatever path they are on in life will post something, start a conversation with people about something likely highly offensive, then get carried away with it when they fail to realize that others can see the conversation and might politely disagree especially if the perspective were skewed slightly. Thicker skin is definitely required. But sometimes the tiger in me can not help but waltz in, stir the pot and press play.
So now that I have your attention, what do you all think? I know some people avoid social media altogether unless they have to use it. I was once that way too. With marketing books, I find it to be both a necessary evil and an awesome tool. I love connecting with readers and hearing their views, but of course no one really wants to be spammed with unwanted solicitation either.
You never know what you will find when you log in to Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram. Obviously you follow certain things and focus on particular events or interests, but there is so much available at our fingertips now. Sometimes things just stand out and grab your attention, make you wish to interact. Other times you just scroll past and move on. You may get a glimpse of things previously unknown even so. On occasion, you just have to mess with people and see what happens. Enjoy life a bit and watch the chaos.
I do generally try to avoid potentially toxic threads. On occasion, it will irk me when the topic is deliberately offensive and those involved seriously seem to be totally oblivious that they are actually offensive. So forgive me if I slip into a rare tiger mood and totally mess with that while laughing at it.
I'm not really trying to change the world. I just want to entertain a few souls with a good story on occasion. For those of us who choose to relax with a good book, I hope that one of mine might appeal to you. If you see an ad on social media and you think you might like to read, I hope you will accept a humble offer to read my work.
Today is the last day to be able to grab Still Waters Part 1 for FREE! It is a short read available from Amazon and always Free on Kindle Unlimited. It offers readers a good glimpse of my story style. As always, I write steamy paranormal romance, so adult content is involved. I hope you enjoy Leevi and Sophia's story. I am indeed a true indie author, so reviews are valuable treasure. If you read please be kind and leave your thoughts.
I may have wreaked enough havoc and chaos for one day. I should go write and stay out of trouble. Enjoy your Sunday!
Welcome to Ophelia Kee Speaks. This is a blog chronicling my independent author walk. The journey into the dream has been a life-changing experience as I try to become a full-time writer and leave the professional world behind me. In my blog each day, you will find information on the ‘behind the scenes’ for writing contemporary adult fantasy fiction and paranormal romance stories set in the dream. I will speak on topics detailing with my writing, publishing, promotion, and marketing as well as social media dealing with my books, book trailers, book launches, book art, music, audio, and video, as well as shameless self-promotion. I am not an expert and am not claiming to be one. I am simply one writer offering a glimpse of my struggle to become a successful independent author. Thank you for considering my words.
