My Life in Words Ophelia Kee Speaks |
#indieauthors #writerslife #amwritingromance #RomanceReaders #paranormalromance If you have not met me before. I am Ophelia Kee. I write contemporary fiction fantasy paranormal romance. I write full-length novels and short reads. My work is technically a body of stand alone reads, but the experience is enhanced if read as a series. I currently have four short reads and thirteen novels available in the Draoithe series. I would like to invite you to step into the dream and escape for a while. All the elements of fantasy meet some old-fashioned adult fairy tale retelling with all the magic you would expect. Within the larger context of the fantasy is the paranormal love stories of the men and women of Draoithe. It's an eclectic group of beings from multiple levels in the dream that call Draoithe home. There are lots of shifters, vampires, wizards, demons, and angels along with an unorthodox number of dragons. The Dire Wolf King and his Tigress queen lead the Druid pack on an epic quest for peace, safety, friendship, and immortal love. ![]() But don't take my word for it. See for yourself. The Thread is absolutely FREE, all the time. Put your name and email in the pop up at OpheliaKee.com, and download your FREE pdf file. Take the dream for a test drive, and see if you like my story telling style. The Thread is the prologue short read detailing the events leading up to A Pack Forms. If you like it, the story continues in A Pack Forms and a link at the end of the file will take you over to Amazon to check that book out. No pressure. ![]() For those of you who have been following my Independent Author walk for a while now, Filth and Death is now Live from Amazon. It is as always FREE with Kindle Unlimited! It was released at the debut price 20% off the regular book price. So if you are purchasing, grab it while it's on sale. Frank Grimes is Filth and he should be dead! The only question is who kills him? If you started the series and had to wait for novels, check it out again. I have been busy. You might be pleasantly surprised. My current Work in Progress, the short read miniseries Dread Allies is coming together nicely. It should be ready to publish far ahead of schedule. I will keep you posted. It will likely fast track, and I will try to publish a book each week until I get it all out. It will have 14 titles in total. I am branding book covers for them all now. I have work to do, y'all enjoy your Saturday. If you read, please be kind and leave your review.
Be Careful! Happy reading, Ophelia Kee

#indieauthors #writerslife #amwritingromance #RomanceReaders #paranormalromance So I joined Book Peez a while back. The support there has been wonderful. If you are writing, reading, publishing, etc... you might want to consider it. It's free to join. The community there is very friendly and helpful. With some of the giants in social media, it is not so easy to be heard. There is too much going on, very busy. Book Peepz is all about people who love books. I know I talk a lot about social media sites here, but as an Indie Author, advertising and book promotion is free to a point there. It is a lot of work, but I have time not money. I often get asked how does an independent author promote? It is not easy. No one wants to be a carnival barker. (Thanks to Randall McCandless. I am still thinking about his book. LOL. Y'all gotta read Live, Laugh Masteurbate.) Well, at least not me. As you can tell by my tiger, I prefer my anonymity. The internet affords that a bit. ![]() What about websites? I have my books listed on Romance Hideaway, the Awesome Gang websites at Pretty Hot and Topless Cowboy. I have promoted A Pack Forms through Writers Pay it Forward and Awesome Gang (for money). I have a Free All Author account that handles tweets for my short reads. At this point I would say that I have not spent more than $400 in advertising since I began publishing in 2018. I'm not bragging. I am just being honest. If my books are not selling quickly, advertising is the reason. I just can't justify paying a lot of money out when none is coming in. I know, that is a poverty stricken mindset, but it is still the truth. I would rather put in the hours of computer work and try to build a base of loyal readers and good brand recognition than skyrocket to the top only to plummet back to earth instantly. Indie Writing as a career choice is the most labor intensive passive income stream imaginable. There is literally no get rich quick in it. I am not saying that there are not success stories. I am just saying that there are very few overnight successes. ![]() Okay, we gotta do it. I gotta tell you about Filth and Death. It is live on Amazon. FREE with Kindle Unlimited! Grab it now while it is available at the debut price. It won't last long. Frank Grimes is filth and he should be dead. The question is who kills him and how does he die? Oh right, I forgot, this is a paranormal romance with a Happily Ever After guaranteed! Check this out! ![]() I am moving ahead with plans to publish a short read miniseries. It is going very well. I was originally shooting for July 2020 as a begin release date, but I may be able to deliver it faster than that. I will let you know as I get closer to finishing the edits and covers and the details of turning a rough draft manuscript into a polished ready to publish series of books. If I start publishing one at a time, I could release much faster. The down side is it would take longer for you to get all of it. I don't know which is worse. Waiting and getting it all at once in July or waiting for the series one book at a time before that. Anyone who wants to weigh in, I am open to suggestions. As always, drop me a line somewhere. I love hearing form you. I am seriously willing to answer questions and hear comments and suggestions. Filth and Death was written entirely based off of one person's question. It was a serious answer. That's it for me this Friday! I have to get some work done. If you read, please be kind and leave your review.
Be Careful! Happy reading, Ophelia Kee #indieauthors #writerslife #amwritingromance #RomanceReaders #paranormalromance Writing the books is a lot of work. Editing the books is a lot of work. Book covers, art, and video trailers, even more work. But it is the marketing that is so damn hard to me. I am not so great with face to face stuff. The internet fixes the anxiety issues a bit that way. I can ask people to look at my book rather than letting them look at me. (Please see my tiger for further clarification. LOL.) I have written a whole lot about my using social media to help me promote my books. But after speaking with another independent author via Twitter today, I realized that I have learned a whole lot of things about marketing and promotion of books that may not necessarily be common knowledge for other independent authors. This blog is all about my author walk even if I do use it as shameless self promotion of my work. But after chatting with the author of Live, Laugh, Masturbate, Randall McCandless, (This nonfiction, inspirational humorous look at one man's fight against cancer not once, but twice, in his life is well worth the money and the read.) I realized that there were a lot of things that I had to do in order to even begin my journey. (In many ways I am still at the beginning. Perhaps I will always be at the beginning of my author walk, but if that is true, so be it!) ![]() There is a lot of information out there about how to write a book, how to edit a book, and how to create a cover. But if you choose to self-publish, there is not a lot of information about what to do next as far as marketing is concerned. I have spoken about setting up all of your social media accounts. I wish someone had told me to do that before I ever published my first book, but you live and learn. So, you have your social media sites in place. You publish your book. Then what? The next step is to leverage Amazon to work for you. You need to build your Author Central page. You will get an email from Amazon congratulating you on a successful publication. In that email, you will find a link to Amazon Author Central. You build this page with all of your author and book biographical information. You can add images, videos, link your blog, etc... I know this all takes a lot of time. But you want to do this. Once you have it set up, it will begin to look like the image here. That 'following box' is what you want. I of course follow myself so mine is grey, but yours will be Amazon yellow. When people see your book in the kindle store, they might look at it closer. If they like it, they will be offered an option to follow you as an author on Amazon at the purchase point and again when they finish the book. As you publish more books, be sure to go back and claim them so they populate here. If you are advertising more than one book at a time, this is helpful. In a way Amazon is giving you a landing page for your work kind of like having your very own storefront. In fiction, having more than one book available is always good. If a reader likes your book, they may want to read more of your work. So an Amazon Author central page is great way to get repeat customers. ![]() For example: Filth and Death was published on Monday. It is the eleventh book in the Draoithe series. Amazon will send out an email to all the readers who follow me notifying them that I have published a new book. It usually takes a few days, but then readers who have been faithfully reading the series become aware of it without needing to rely on social media advertising. That means that my social media advertising actually works better. My loyal readers return to read more of the dream. New readers find out about my books as I advertise the new book. They follow me. I am not really having to mass market email people. Amazon does that for me, keeping my budget as a starving Indie Author far more reasonable. Shameless Promotion. Grab your copy today at the debut price! This one is worth the money at 125,000 words. Good reading! ![]() I know this was a lot to chew on, but I don't see much out there dealing with this stuff. I will try to speak more on some of the other stuff I touched on this blog later. If you are an Indie Author and you want to self publish on your own, taking advantage of this tool is very important! In other news from the dream, have you guys seen the Storyboard Preview for Light and Dark Magic? It is up on YouTube! I should have it pinned on Pinterest shortly. I gotta run off and get my life moving on something new!. If you read, please remember to be kind and leave your reviews.
Be Careful! Happy reading, Ophelia Kee #indieauthors #writerslife #amwritingromance #RomanceReaders #paranormalromance So late yesterday evening, I met an author on Facebook. CJ Bower. She writes contemporary sports romance. We chatted for quite awhile, and she she gave me some serious stuff to think about and look into. I have never done a book signing. As most of you are aware, the field I work in outside of writing is not one in which paranormal romance would be looked upon favorably. (So, yes, Ophelia Kee is actually my pen name.) She suggested that I consider traveling and trying out a book signing or two. So I am looking into it. She also gave me a bit of practical advice about writing the book taglines. I will try it, and you guys let me know if I am doing better. I have known for awhile that I need to build a following of loyal readers, but this is not easy to do. Collecting emails when people are afraid of the spam is difficult too. You may not be aware, but mass email distribution is actually a paid form of advertising. Meaning that I, with my limited budget, will not ever be spamming my readers. At this point, it would be far more cost effective to simply write a few personalized emails a day. Or continue writing about my author walk and keep everyone in the loop that way. Maybe in the future as the business grows, I can expand that better. ![]() For now, if you are interested in finding out about my story style and helping me on my path in the dream, just visit my website OpheliaKee.com. Check out the novels, and when the popup opens subscribe and download your FREE copy of The Thread. It is the prologue to A Pack Forms, and it offers you the behind the scenes story on the events that led up to Luke finally making his move to meet Eli. He's a bit broken and so is she, but neither of them really know it. Her situation is actually more complicated, but so long as he is only stalking her from a distance, Luke doesn't realize that. When you finish the short read if you want to find out more, click the link and continue. No pressure. FREE with no commitment is good. Someone suggested that I begin a Facebook Group, I will look into that next. I have expanded the content available on the page considerably. I just figured out about uploading the videos there. So check out the Storyboard previews on Facebook later. Something I would really like to see improvement with is the Pinterest following and community. It is far better as a creative outlet and idea interest spark to me. That platform appeals to the creative mind more from my perspective. With Facebook and Twitter, advertising gets very costly. But with Pinterest, there is more organic traffic. People are less directly led and allowed to wander through their interests with more freedom. It is more difficult to gain followers there, but I think that might be a good thing. The people who follow there would be serious readers, not just random tagalongs. I love to hear from you, so drop me a line about your preferences so I have more to chew on. ![]() Filth and Death is live from Amazon. If you have not grabbed a copy, get it quick before the debut price ends. For my Kindle Unlimited subscribers this massive book if FREE! So read and share. If you read any book, please be kind and leave your review. Authors need them. Sincerest Thanks. Life is calling me. I have work to do yet again.
Be Careful! Happy reading, Ophelia Kee #indieauthors #writerslife #amwritingromance #RomanceReaders #paranormalromance I want to mention a couple of people who have been kind enough to mention the work on YouTube recently. Jon Raven and GJ Battles, I want to thank you for making my day. It is always nice to think that other people like the work I am doing. I subscribed to your channel. These people are creative artists as well. If you are reading this, maybe you should head over to youtube and do a quick search. For any who are just now finding Ophelia Kee Speaks, this blog is my journal of my Independent Author Walk. I don't have a huge following or a giant mailing list. Maybe one day. I started out with my handful of friends and my family. So when strangers comment, like, follow, or subscribe it is exciting. ![]() Last night Shanu Shah sent me a message about a failed link for Filth and Death on Instagram. Thanks to her kindness in reaching out, I was able to edit that link almost immediately. The little things often count the most to me. It was just one failed link, but how many people might never look at my book even though they saw the image simply because the link failed? I might never know, but many people won't take the time to look the book up by title or author name as Shanu Shah did. So A special shout out and thanks to her. She is also an author, head over to Instagram and follow her there. Also while we are talking about Filth and Death, It went live on Amazon yesterday! It is also FREE with Kindle Unlimited! (Shameless Promo was pretty easy this time.) ![]() I want to thank all of the people who follow me on Twitter. I have over a 1,000 followers now. You guys are awesome. Thanks so much for helping me navigate, network, and promote wy work. I can't name everyone there, but each and every one of you matter. I am pretty sure that the reason for the increase in Youtube traffic is directly a result of my pinned Filth and Death promo video. ![]() In other news in the dream, I am currently working on the Storyboard Preview for Light and Dark Magic. I am hoping to get it out to the public this week. I know it seems silly. I am advertising old books when I have a new one just released, but I did not hit upon this idea until recently. So here I am doing things all backwards, but that's okay. I would still like it if people read my older work too. I mean it is a great story just as the latest book is a great story. I don't have a giant budget or a contract with a formal publishing house. Hell, I can't even afford an aggregate publisher. Most months I spend more than I make writing. Mostly I just hope that my readers will gain a sense of the truth behind writing a good story and any other authors who read my blogs can learn from my mistakes and know that it is okay to make mistakes. I don't know how much the cards and videos lend to the body of work, but they are free publicity. What I really hope is that you guys enjoy the promotional stuff too. I don't always want to be just a book salesperson. I would like to let you test drive it a little and see if my story style suits you. I love feedback. I want to hear from my readers. Unlike some authors who prefer to hide away, I like to talk about my work, the characters, the flaws, whatever. I can research it all, sure, but it is my readers opinions and thoughts that matter more. So Please, if you have questions or comments, drop me a line. Some of the ideas that readers have talked about have actually sparked whole novels and a couple of miniseries. If you like my work, if you have an idea of how it could be improved, or a question about a character or event depicted in the storyline, by all means tell me. So what if I have to write a whole new book just to address your concern? I like writing. Be Careful! Happy reading, Ophelia Kee #indieauthors #writerslife #amwritingromance #RomanceReaders #paranormalromance Filth and Death is Live TODAY! This one is hot. Frank is filth, and he should be dead. This is the guy you love to hate. Find out what happens when a blood demon chooses him as her host! 20% off for the debut. FREE with Kindle Unlimited! I am so excited. The backlog in my docs files is finally getting corrected. I hope I can stay on track to keep publishing at least one book per month until July. In July I will release Dread Allies. The short read miniseries should be good. I am not sure yet if I will be able to publish it all at once. If not, then each part will come out in rapid succession. Maybe a book a week. Let me see as we get closer, but the miniseries for sure will comprise 14 short reads. Each of them will be approximately 45 minutes to an hour of read time, and I want to price them all at $.99. I am researching book covers for the miniseries as we speak, but I promise the branding will be similar enough that you won't accidentally miss it. So that's what's going on in my author walk at the moment. On the marketing and advertising front, I really would love to gain a larger following on Pinterest. I feel that it is the better platform from which to market the books, but it is slower to gain viable followers. If y'all love Draoithe, don't forget to follow on Pinterest. I feel as if the best showcase of videos and imagery associated with the books is there. Someone asked me if I was deliberately trying to do rapid release. The answer is, no. I had to look that up. The truth is that it took me a long time to learn how to publish. By the time I figured that out, I already had quite a few manuscripts that I wanted to come to light and make available. But if rapid release helped me starve less, I am down to do it. LOL. I am still working on storyboard previews for the Novels at least. I am also trying to expand the subscriber base on the YouTube channel. If Pinterest is not your thing and all you really want is the video. then head over to YouTube! I worked out the FREE book for next month! Grab your copy of Filth and Death first. I will fill you in on the Freebie after the weekend. Don't forget! If you read, please be kind and leave a review.
Be Careful! Happy Reading, Ophelia Kee #indieauthors #writerslife #amwritingromance #RomanceReaders #paranormalromance Migraines. I detest them. They steal part of my life. I spent the last 20 hours dealing with one. Finally, the meds worked. But The feeling of being too hot when it's freezing outside is ridiculous. The nausea makes me dizzy and the light. Please shut it all off. I lie very still to stop the worst of the pain with a wet cloth over my eyes and forehead. I don't sleep, because the pain it too intense for that. Yeah, I took the medication, but sometimes I'm too late. If it comes back up, it is a long ride to freedom. It's after six on Sunday evening, and I think I might survive. My head still aches, but the light no longer acts like a laser beam. So good news. ![]() I thought I might take this Sunday that my head is in the all wrong place to introduce y'all to my longtime writing companion, Sancho. He usually takes me for walks so I don't just stare at the computer screen too long. He is also a bit of a tennis ball freak, but I love him still. He is the best. So I thought maybe he might need a little spot in my digital world. He approved of the Soon to be Released book list so I added him to the From My Desk page of the OpheliaKee.com . So the miniseries is a go. I am looking at covers for the short reads now! In other news from Draoithe, I am still working on storyboard previews. I would like to be caught up on that front by the end of March. I don't think I will make them for the short reads though. Maybe just the excerpt cards for them as the stories are so short. I have made the executive decision that I have to back away from my idea for fireside reads at the moment. I need to find a better way to record the scenes. So I am putting that on the back burner for the time being. I'm not giving up, just reevaluating the logistics. ![]() Tomorrow is the big day! Filth and Death will be live on Amazon. I can't wait. It's good. It might be one of my very best. Y'all know I love The Dark Gift, but Filth and Death might just be my second favorite. Don't tell the other novels. LOL. Grab your copy at the debut price. If you wait too long, the price will go up. It's worth every bit of the $4.99 I usually ask for my novels. But right now on pre-order and for the next couple of weeks it will be 20% off that price, so don't wait too long to find out why Frank Grimes really is a character you will love to hate. I am working on setting up another free book give-away on Amazon in March. It's a little tricky because I have a lot of stuff already going on in March. Synner and Sainte is moving to Kindle Unlimited. FINALLY! Also the next full length novel Dragon Masters should be coming out on the 23rd. Either way if I can manage it, I promise to give away more free stuff. Excerpt from the short read miniseries Dread Allies: Shadow King: “Peter Elliot sent a shifter named Roger Dunbar out to my house looking for me a few months ago. I was living in a small house in a subdivision not far from here while we were building our home at Draoithe. Dunbar had gotten the wrong address from the contractor and found Eli instead. I was not here.” Luke shook his head and growled low. They had wanted him but went after his mate like the cowards that they were. “He tied her to a chair and tortured her for information about me. He wanted proof that I was a direwolf. Eli refused to give him answers, and he cut her up so badly that she almost died.” Luke looked away from Alexio. The guilt ate at him still. If he had taken Eli with him, she would not have gotten hurt. But he could not fix the past. “A coward.” Alexio snarled echoing Luke’s thoughts. Dread Allies is going to be good. It is a spinoff collection of short reads about a small kingdom in Netherworld called Eaglafonn (Dread Desire). Luke makes an ally and uses that ally to finally strike back at Peter Elliot in a way that puts Draoithe ahead of the game instead of always being behind. The stories in Dread Allies will only add to the Draoithe Series. But I hope you will like the Shadow King and his demonic kingdom. I better go and find something else to get in trouble with. Don't forget if you read to be kind and leave a review.
Be Careful! Happy reading, Ophelia Kee #indieauthors #writerslife #amwritingromance #RomanceReaders #paranormalromance It's Saturday. I know I do self promotion everyday, but weekends are when most people seem to have a bit of time to take a break from their busy lives and read a page or two in a good book. Maybe, just maybe the pages they will turn will lead them into the dream. If that happens, then chances are good that they will wind up at Draoithe. Luke and Eli started it all with A Pack Forms. They were not the only ones fighting back against the chaos that had unbalanced the dream. Sandor Liderk and Tavas Elniai were working to remedy it in Tantalu. If you have not yet met the devils of Blar Elding and read about their struggles against the chaos, then you might need to pick up a copy of Synner and Sainte. There is even a short read series Weaver's Tale which details the struggles of the king of the Longest Purple. ![]() So far however, the bulk of the stories set in the dream have centered on Draoithe. There are 10 novels in the series, a prequel and a forbye. There are also several short read tangential stories in the series. On Feb. 24 the eleventh full length novel in the Draoithe series will be live on Amazon. It is currently available as a pre order at the 20% off debut price. Grab it before the price increases. Now that I have gotten some of the promotion out of the way, I wanted to let you know about an exciting change that is coming to the dream soon. I have been toying with short reads recently. No, so far they have not been more profitable than the full length novels, so don't freak out. I am not going to quit writing the series, or novels either. I am currently working on a two novel story group set in Juneau, Alaska in the dream. I would like to get it out by maybe October, but no guarantees. I have changed the title of the book group, the books themselves, and even the characters have been altered. But the newest change is coming in the form of a short read miniseries spinoff. I am looking at possibly being able to publish that work in its entirety in July. It will encompass approximately 14 or 15 one hour contemporary fiction fantasy short reads. I want to price each one at $.99 so it would cost in total about as much as purchasing four or five novels to buy the complete series. This series will focus on demons in the Netherworld Kingdom of Eaglafonn (Dread Desire). This kingdom is one of the allies that Luke needs to finally defeat the shadowy enemy of Peter Elliot. If you love the Draoithe series, this short read miniseries is sure to grab your interest. More details will be coming soon on that topic. ![]() FREE Stuff! I know you need your free stuff. The Thread is always free. If you visit OpheliaKee.com, you can subscribe and download your free pdf copy today. I don't really do a whole lot of emails. Amazon will handle the notices about books available on pre-order or recently published, just follow me at Amazon's Author Central, and you won't get any spam, just a regular notice. The subscription on my webpage is mostly just so I can keep up with how many books I have given away and well to be sure that whoever gets a copy can read. So thanks for grabbing your free short read book if you already have it. If you haven't get yours today and join us on the journey through the dream. I want to thank all of you who read my stories. I hope that you enjoy my storytelling style. I am an entirely independent author. I strive to publish and market a great story. If any of you ever have a question or comment on the books, please feel free to drop me a line here https://www.opheliakee.com/ophelia-kee-author-contact.html. I am available on many social media platforms. I would love to hear your thoughts. As always, I am not above begging for your kindness when it comes to book reviews. They are always greatly appreciated. If you like seeing the videos or storyboard cards and such give any of my social media sites that you use a follow. I am always trying out new and sometimes crazy ideas for the publicity and marketing.
All right enough of my crazy Author Walk, its Saturday. Shouldn't we all be enjoying a good book somewhere? Be Careful! Happy reading, Ophelia Kee #indieauthors #writerslife #amwritingromance #RomanceReaders #paranormalromance Can a book series spawn a spinoff miniseries? I don't know, but I have an idea for a short read miniseries. It would be set in the dream, but I want to explore the Netherworld a bit more. Weaver's Tale touched on some of the stories that grew out of small places and peripheral characters in the Netherworld that were briefly mentioned in the novel, Synner and Sainte. Weaver's Tale linked back to Still Waters and Smoke of the Fire at Draoithe. But what if there were other stories that touched Draoithe? Longer more involved stories that could be an epic short read miniseries about a demon kingdom in the Netherworld? I think I might try it. It would still be paranormal romance. I doubt I will ever stop writing those. I do love the happily ever after. I am also toying with the idea that I should only publish it if I can do it all at one time like how I published Weaver's Tale. It was a 4 part read, but I published the entire mini read in four days just back to back so that I could be sure that all the links worked, and if you were reading and did not want to stop, you did not have to. Or you could pick up where you left off at the end without needing to go look up the work or wait for me to publish the rest of it. The good news is that if I publish a short read series, I can charge $.99 for the books instead of needing to charge more. I can also write more and publish more often. So just sharing the craziness of my author walk. I just can't help it. This book is good. I have to share it. It's out as a preorder, but it drops Feb. 24. Grab a copy while you can at the debut price. For all my Kindle Unlimited subscribers, it will be free. Relax and start reading it when you get the chance. I am starting to actually like this crazy shameless promotion bit. Some days it is not so bad. The my late night muse, if you are reading, thank you for the inspiration. You are really good at giving me great ideas. To all my Pinterest people, thanks for saving my pins. You make my job easier. If you like my work, follow back. I put out new pins on the regular. If you follow me, I promise to follow back. I am still working on a lot of behind the scenes stuff. I want to be able to give away more free books. So bear with me. I might get it all figured out, but somehow I feel as if something new will come along just as I think I know what I am doing. If you read, be kind and leave your review.
Be Careful! Happy reading, Ophelia Kee #indieauthors #writerslife #amwritingromance #RomanceReaders #paranormalromance Happily ever after is the name of the game in romance. It kind of has to be right? If there is no happily ever after then you kind of feel as if the story did not end or it ended wrong. That always leaves me upset. So yeah I'm an HEA kind of girl. But in fantasy, things are different. There is usually some serious evil that needs to be destroyed before it can destroy the world and there is magic involved. (Science fiction too but more science and less magic.) With Draoithe, I blend the two. Each couple winds up with their happily ever after, but the adventure continues from one novel into the next as they join forces to fight against the shadowy evil of Peter Elliot. I tend to label the work as paranormal romance, but like as not Amazon is right in categorizing Draoithe as contemporary fiction as most of the story happens in the current time. ![]() Then the No Cheating must be addressed. It simply does not work in this storyline. Cheating is the physical manifestation of the lie of love. If two people were truly soul mates, then cheating would never happen. Nothing would ever be more interesting than the one crafted for them by the powers that be. We all love the idea of being in love and having a forever partner to share life with, but there is a sad reality in our world. If you are in a relationship chances are good that one or the other parties has, is, or will cheat. Many times both do it. The crushing demoralizing after effects of cheating create serious trust issues that may never be overcome. So at Draoithe, because Eli suffered from that issue, the magic refuses to allow it. Whether it is because Luke wishes to protect her or because she herself wishes to protect everyone is never really clear. Does Draoithe exist for Luke's benefit ot Eli's? That argument continues to be debated throughout the series. But Griz may have the right of it above the other opinions. ![]() Speaking of Griz, I wanted to let everyone know that the Storyboard Preview for The Ruiri Complete is now available for viewing. I have uploaded it to Pinterest, YouTube, and Instagram and as always it is accessible from OpheliKee.com. I have been diligently working to get caught up on that front. I really like the videos even if I am not too sure if they actually help me sell my books. They are fun though. A new way to look at books that I had once never even thought of. Crafting the videos has made me think about creating short reads that could be crafted into storyboard videos as complete stories. I might try that next as my idea for audible books has taken a backseat due to my inability to actually record a read that is of any quality at all. LOL. ![]() Piracy! I have to address it even if it seems unbelievable. I have seen in my Facebook feed several posts recently discussing a pirate book site. Independent Authors in general rarely make $10,000 a year in royalties from book sales. Oh there are some who earn more, but they are the exception to the rule. The side hustle for Independent Authors is very real. I personally currently only have my books listed on Amazon. How these pirate sites even manage to obtain the manuscript is beyond me, but if you click on a book priced well below the general market value for that genre and that link does not take you to Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, Ibooks, or Google Books, I would not give out my credit or debit card info. If they will steal from the starving artists of the literary community, they will steal from you too. Play it safe. Collect your freebies from reputable sites and pick up books when an author runs a sale. That way no one gets hurt. (Also starving indie authors might eat.) ![]() You knew it was coming. I must do the shameless self promotion. I really must. Filth and Death is on preorder now. The book drops on Feb. 24. This one will not be listed at the debut price for long. It is far too good and way too big. Frank Grimes is the man you love to hate. Find out how a blood demon attempts to turn him into something a bit less slimy. For all my Kindle Unlimited subscribers, this one will also be FREE to you. I hope you enjoy! I have to run away. The nut milk ice cream will not make itself. Neither will the bread or the jelly. Believe it or not, I am also writing a novel or too. So just remember, if you read, please be kind and leave your review. They always help. One word or even an emoji will make an author's day.
